Cop arrested over alleged carnapping in Cotabato City, PNP-IMEG says

A cop allegedly involved in carnapping activities was arrested in Cotabato City, the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) said Friday.

In a statement, the PNP-IMEG identified the suspect as Patrolman Jassim Muhammad Plaza Aking, an active member of Regional Mobile Force Batallion of Police Regional Office Bangsamoro.

“Patrolman Aking is sought for not one but two anti-carnapping cases,” PNP-IMEG officer-in-charge Police Brigadier General Samuel Nacion said.

“This indicates that while serving in the police force, he wronged two civilians and may have victimized more if he hadn't been apprehended,” he added.

Aking was arrested on Wednesday by virtue of an arrest warrant for allegedly violating the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 under Criminal Case Nos. 2022-13352 and 13353 dated June 9 with bail fixed to P300,000 each case.

According to the two complainants, Aking supposedly stole their Honda XRM motorcycle and Mitsubishi Estrada vehicle.

The cop was brought to the CIDG BARMM Office for documentation and processing, the PNP-IMEG said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
