4 fishermen dead, 1 missing as boat capsizes in Bataan

Four fishermen died and one went missing after their boat capsized in Bagac, Bataan, according to a report of Bam Alegre on GMA News’ Unang Balita on Monday.

The fatalities were identified as Alexander Mesina, Tirso De Guia, Edgar Balboa, and Gregorio Limboc.

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo said the Coast Guard Station Bataan and the Maritime Group are still searching for the missing person, identified as Jemar Dacillo.

“Hindi pa rin, ilang araw na natin itong hinahanap. 'Yung Coast Guard Station Bataan, kasama po ng Maritime Group, naghahanap pa rin po sila rito,” he said in an interview on Unang Balita.

(We still haven't found the missing fisherman, we have been searching for him for days. Coast Guard Station Bataan with the Maritime Group are still searching for him.)

“Naghingi na tayo ng Notice to Mariners kasi daanan ng barko itong area na 'to at kung sakaling may makakita,” he added.

(We already asked for a Notice to Mariners because the area is a route for ships in case they find the missing person.)

Meanwhile, 45 fishermen were rescued from the incident.

Quoting the account of the survivors, Balilo said the boat capsized due to strong waves. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
