Woman arrested for holding up convenience store in Biñan

A woman was arrested for holding up a convenience store in Biñan, Laguna on Saturday night, May 28.

According to Jonathan Andal’s report on “24 Oras” on Sunday, CCTV footage showed the woman wearing only a face mask as she entered the store premises. She fired a gun at the ceiling and announced a hold-up.

The suspect ordered the store's crew to open the cash register and put the money in a plastic bag she was carrying.

Later on, one of the crew tried to snatch the gun from Mercado, but she fired again.

The fleeing suspect caught the attention of the people in the area who chased her. She was arrested by police officers in the vicinity.

Seized from her possession were a .38 caliber revolver, ammunition, some money amounting P12,000, and a paper with a note stating, “Wrong move means death. Wag sisigaw o susumbong kung ayaw mong ipaubos mo ang pamilya mo sa mafia.”

(Don’t shout or inform anyone if you don’t want your family to be killed by the mafia.)

“Ang sabi niya mismo sir may problema iyong kanyang anak na may sakit sa puso kaya kailangang-kailangan daw niya ng pera,” said Police Lieutenant Harris Hemor, Commander of Biñan Police Station 2.

(She said that her child has a heart disease, so she really needed the money.)

“Noong nahuli medyo balisa siya sir eh. Sabi nga niya, wala na raw kuwenta iyong buhay niya gawa nga sir na nahuli siya,” he added.

(When she was caught, she was a little anxious. She said that her life didn't matter anymore because we caught her.)

The 44-year-old suspect said she got the gun from a sleeping security guard, according to the police.

The woman, who is now detained at Biñan Police Station, will face charges related to the election gun ban and robbery. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
