Vendor wins over doctor, is next mayor of Dolores, Eastern Samar

A market vendor beat the odds and won over a doctor in the mayoral elections in Dolores, Eastern Samar.

According to a report on "24 Oras", Rodrigo Rivera got 11,508 votes as against Dr. Zaldy Carpeso's 10,946.

Due to poverty, vegetable vendor Rivera only finished second year of high school.

It wasn't easy for him to campaign as he and his loved ones as they went around the barangays of Dolores.

There were times when they would just be given food by their friends in the communities where they campaigned.

Rodrigo's program is to help the poor in the town. -NB, GMA News
