5.7-magnitude quake occurs off Tarragona, Davao Oriental

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake occurred east of Tarragona, Davao Oriental early Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The report has been revised, downgraded to a 5.7-magnitude quake.

The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin with a depth of 96 kilometers occurred at 5:41 a.m.

Intensity II was recorded in General Santos City.

PHIVOLCS also reported that aftershocks may occur but no damages are expected. -- BAP, GMA News
