Agusan del Sur residents affected by flood receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Residents in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur affected by floods caused by continuous rain received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Citing data by Bunawan's Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Monday's "24 Oras" report said over 1,500 families had to evacuate due to the floods on Wednesday.

Among these is 50-year-old Jennifer Durado from Barangay San Marcos, where the water level is still high. Unfortunately, even her source of income is heavily affected.

"Lalong kaming mahihirapan kasi 'yung mga tanim namin, mga pangkuha ng [isda], na-washout. Hirap na hirap na kami," she said, adding that they're having trouble selling their goods.

("We'll have a harder time because our plants, what we use to catch fish, have been washed out. It's really hard.")

"Walang pumupunta dito na mga mamimili kasi malalim ang tubig sa kalsada. 'Di sila makapasok. Ang mga tao, hirap sa pag-kain dahil ang [benta] nilang [isda], walang bumibili."

("No customers are going here because the roads are flooded. They can't go in. People are having a hard time eating because no one buys the fish they're selling.")

With the help of the Philippine Army's 67th Infantry Battalion, the residents were all given relief goods.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
