Davao de Oro placed under state of calamity due to LPA
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Davao de Oro declared a state of calamity in the province on Friday, citing damage to agriculture and property caused by the low pressure area (LPA).
In Resolution No. 1813-2022, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan declared a state of calamity to expedite the delivery of services to the affected communities.
Based on the initial assessment by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (PDRRMC-RDANA), the LPA "severely damaged" houses, infrastructure, livelihoods, crops, agricultural products, and power lines within the province.
The resolution did not provide an estimate of the cost of damage from the weather disturbance.
The LPA and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms over parts of the country, according to PAGASA's 24-hour weather forecast on Friday.
The LPA was located 185 kilometers east northeast of Surigao City as of 3 p.m.
PAGASA said it was also monitoring a tropical storm outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which was last spotted 2,215 kilometers east of Mindanao. — VBL, GMA News
