5 suspected dynamite fishers arrested in Bataan

Five persons suspected to be involved in dynamite fishing were arrested in Mariveles, Bataan, Emil Sumangil reported on "24 Oras" on Wednesday.

The suspects, authorities said, are also the ones preparing blasting caps.

Bataan Maritime Police Station Chief Police Major Leoncio Alcantara said the suspects are from Cavite province.

The operations against blast fishing has been heightened but the suspects have implemented a systematic evasion tactics.

Alcantara said they use small boats when they do dynamite fishing. He added that they even have look outs.

The suspects declined to issue a statement.

Dynamite fishing is prohibited because of the damage of the blast to the marine environment.  -- BAP, GMA News
