Terrence Romeo sued over bounced check in poultry business
San Miguel Beermen player Terrence Romeo was sued over a bounced check and a failure to deliver on a promise of returns on investments.
According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras", Marco said he invested in P10 million in a poultry business with a guarantee that it would yield 25% a month.
(We will buy chicks and then they will take care of the chicks in their farm. We will get a dividend every month. In the first months, they were okay but after a while, there had been delays.)
Apart from the farm tour, Marco said the company had launched grand events with some celebrities endorsing the investment scheme including Romeo.
“Kami ay syempre agad na nagtiwala dahil star-studded at the same time star player yun yung pinaka pinanghawakan namin,” Marco said.
(We trusted them immediately because they are star-studded and at the same time there is a star player, that is why we trust them.)
However, Marco said that he received his dividend in only a few months, adding that he could no longer find the company owners.
He also held as evidence the bounced check issued in Romeo's name.
(We want to settle it, so we met and discussed it. However, they still don't want to settle.)
Meanwhile, Barbie, one of the investors from a group of teachers, also fell in the investment scam.
(First they showed us the farm, second they introduced us to Terrence Romeo as well, then they showed us pictures and then those others who invested.)
Barbie said they did not receive the money after they already gave their investment.
(They gave us various reasons and they also came to a point where they cannot give us anything.)
She said from the P2 million they invested, she only gave P50,000 and the rest were from the teachers she persuaded to join her.
(We appeal to them to just give our investment, that's all I'm asking them to do so that there won't be any complaints, there won't be a problem because we trust them.)
The investors filed a complaint to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which said that they will investigate the matter.
