P9.6M worth of marijuana seized in Bulacan
Authorities seized P9.6 million worth of marijuana in an anti-illegal drugs operation in San Miguel, Bulacan on Thursday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
In a statement on Friday, the PNP said the two suspects identified as Dexter Asban, 20, and Jomerson Macusi, 26, were arrested during the operation in Barangay Paliwasan.
Appropriate charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against the suspects, according to the PNP.
The operation was conducted by the joint elements of Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit, Drug Enforcement Group, San Miguel Municipal Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bulacan.
To determine the source of marijuana, the PNP said it is now tracing the drug supply network of the arrested suspects.
“This is a work in progress. Our police units and other law enforcement agencies are coordinating round the clock to neutralize the operations of syndicates engaged in trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs,” PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos said. — VBL, GMA News
