The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Sunday morning has started printing the ballots for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) that will be used for the May 9, 2022 automated election system.

In a tweet, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez announced that the printing of the official ballots for the 2022 national and local elections have begun.

“Printing of official ballots for the 2022 National and Local Elections began at [approximately] 11:27AM today, 23 January 2022, at the National Printing Office,” he said.

Jimenez added that the total number of BARMM ballots to be printed is 2,588,193.

“Printing will start with the ballots for Lanao del Sur, numbering 685,643 ballots,” he said.

“You can now see the iconic ballot design undergoing a test print run,” Jimenez told reporters.

Meanwhile, the printing of 60,000 official local absentee voting (LAV) ballots began on January 20, Thursday night, Jimenez said.

As of Sunday, Jimenez confirmed that the printing of both manual LAV and overseas absentee voting ballots is already completed.
