10-year-old girl found dead inside Talisay City cave –PNP

After missing for three days, the body of a 10-year-old girl was found inside a cave in Talisay City on January 9, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the PNP said the girl's family filed a missing person report at the Talisay City Police Station after she had asked permission to swim in the river but never came home.

After a concerned citizen called authorities about a smell coming from the cave, which was near a river, the body was found under a pile of rocks.

Rescuers recovered the body of the victim and the family positively identified it.

For the family, the girl was raped by a group of individuals whom they saw along the river just before the girl went missing, the PNP said.

“A complete forensic investigation is underway to assist Talisay City Police in the investigation, including post mortem investigation to determine if indeed the victim was sexually abused,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said.

Investigators were interviewing witnesses who could identify persons of interest in the case. — DVM, GMA News
