Tubajon, Dinagat mayor asks for food assistance, says supplies will run out in 2 days


Tubajon, Dinagat Islands Mayor Fely Pedrablanca on Tuesday said that almost all homes in the entire town have been damaged due to the impact of Typhoon Odette, and asked the government for help as their food is running out.

Interviewed on Dobol B TV, Pedrablanca said some residents were homeless as  around 25% of the houses were totally damaged.

“Siyam lang ang talagang hindi na-damage. The rest of households na 2,000 plus ay talagang sira, May totally damaged kami, one-fourth of the whole municipality,” she said.

(Only nine were really not damaged. The rest of the over 2,000 households were really damaged. Around one-fourth of the homes are totally damaged.)

Pedrablanca also called on the national government to send food assistance to their town.

According to her, the stock of food relief packs will be depleted in two days as some of them were already used for the individuals in isolation under COVID-19 protocols.

“Sa national government natin, sana po matulungan niyo po kami na maihatid ang tulong sa as early as tomorrow po sana para hindi maubos yung food supply namin,” she said.

(To the national government, we hope you could help us deliver assistance ideally as early as tomorrow so we would not run out of food suppl.)

Pedrablanca said the town still has no access to communication lines and relief assistance.

One fatality due to the typhoon was reported in Tubajon, according to the mayor. — BM, GMA News
