Honest working student returns cash left at ATM

Netizens heaped praises on a working student from Bacoor, Cavite for a viral video showing her returning cash she found in an ATM machine.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Oscar Oida on Friday, Jeanette Cortez Real was preparing to withdraw cash from an ATM machine in a mall when the machine suddenly released cash.

“Nung una hindi ko alam kung magkano siya kasi hindi ko siya agad binilang, parang napalingon muna ako sa paligid ko sabi ko hala kaninong pera to,” Cortez said.

“May lumabas na resibo, tapos pagtingin ko sa resibo nakita ko yung amount po, tapos sabi ko hala medyo malaki ‘to,” she added.

The total amount of cash she found was P7, 900, which she turned over to the nearest bank branch.

Real posted the incident on Facebook, which quickly went viral.

“‘Yung may ari po noon, alam ko pong marami rin siyang pinagdaanan para makuha ‘yung pera na ‘yun so parang kung aangkinin ko siya, parang ang laking konsensya po yun,” she said.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA News
