Tourists flock as Puerto Galera beach reopens
Tourists headed to Mindoro in Puerto Galera’s white beach following the easing of pandemic restrictions, according to Ian Cruz’s "24 Oras" report on Friday.
Since Oct. 27, the beach has been open for accommodation to fully-vaccinated individuals.
Families and friends enjoyed the white sand beaches as police personnel continuously patrolled to ensure tourists follow health protocols.
“Ang aming mga beaches ay mayroong mga tinatawag na LGU tourism marshals. Sila ang nagbabantay sa aming mga tourism sites para po makita na lahat po ng mga health protocols ay sinusunod ng ating mga turista,” Puerto Galera administrator Carmel Datinguinoo said.
Puerto Galera requires incoming tourists to acquire an S Pass by uploading a copy of their valid ID, hotel booking and vaccination certificate through Puerto Galera’s Tourist Registration to enter the beach.
Unvaccinated individuals, like children, are required to take a free anti-gen test at the Batangas Grand Terminal.
“Thankful kami kasi madali lang yung pagpunta dito sa Puerto Galera. Walang naging hassle although maraming requirements na kailangan,” visitor Rachelle Vallestero, who came to the beach with her family to celebrate her daughter’s birthday, said.
There are currently seven active COVID-19 cases in Puerto Galera, which is one less than the reported cases before the reopening of the beach.
More tourists are expected to arrive in the coming weekend.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA News
