Alleged thief tries high-wire act on power lines to evade arrest
A man was forced to walk on power lines in an attempt to escape from authorities after he allegedly stole from sari-sari store owners in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
In Nico Waje's "24 Oras" report, Reynaldo Borlagdatan said he had just closed their shop at 7 p.m. when he heard a noise upstairs.
He went to verify the noise and saw the man, whose name was not given in the report. The suspect was able to enter the second floor of Borlagdatan's house through a window.
"Umakyat ako at sinindihan ko ang ilaw sa taas, tapos dun ko siya nakita. Nung nakita ko yun tumago pa sa poste," said Borlagdatan.
(I went upstairs to check and opened the lights and saw the guy. When I saw him, he even tried to hide near the utility pole.)
The suspect, just like Spider-Man, jumped from the window and ran across house roofs before trying to flee on the power lines and almost fell, but the residents of Barangay Paliparan Tres were able to catch him.
Borlagdatan's wife, Delia, alleged that the suspect had tried to steal from them before.
The suspect's aunt, Thelma, had asked the public not to criticize her nephew. She also said her nephew returned to Mindanao.
The Borlagdatan couple, meanwhile, decided not to file a complaint against the suspect. — Consuelo Marquez/BM, GMA News
