Over 1,600 Benguet farmers affected by Tropical Storm Maring receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Over 1,600 vegetable farmers affected by the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Maring in Benguet received relief goods from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Monday, among the beneficiaries was Emma Diwas, whose planted chili and bell peppers were all washed away by strong winds, rain, and soil.

"Malungkot na malungkot po kasi ito lang po ang pinagkukunan ng hanapbuhay tsaka pang-aral ng mga bata," she said.

["I'm very sad because this is our only livelihood and source of income for our kids' education."]

Diwas is currently working alone because her husband is injured and could not move one of his arms.

Through GMA Kapuso Foundation's "Operation Bayanihan" project, residents  in Barangay Balluay and Barangay Bagong in the municipality of Sablan received aid.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is still accepting donations through bank deposits, Pay Maya, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, Zalora, and Mega Mart.
