Wake for artist Bree Jonson ongoing in Davao, interment scheduled Sept. 29

A wake for artist Bree Jonson is currently being held in Davao, her mother Sally confirmed.

Her remains will be interred this Wednesday, September 29, she added, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Monday.

Jonson's body was found at a resort in La Union on September 22, and her companion Julian Ongpin was briefly detained by police for alleged violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Ongpin—son of businessman Roberto Ongpin—also tested positive for cocaine, and 12.6 grams of the illegal substance were recovered.

However, he was temporarily released due to the prosecutor's order but a preliminary investigation into his case will still be launched.

Bree's mother questioned Ongpin's release since the drug charges are non-bailable.

Police has presented CCTV footage showing Jonson and Ongpin outside their room at the resort, and said the two seemed to have had an altercation.

Sally however asked how the Philippine National Police came to know that when the video had no audio.

She previously said that she does not believe that Bree committed suicide.

Ongpin has not talked to the Jonson family yet, Sally said.

No new updates yet were available from the PNP and Ongpin's camp.

Members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) forensic team on Saturday conducted an inspection and reenactment of some of the scenes at the hotel in La Union where Jonson was found dead.

Meanwhile, Sally shared her thoughts about Bree.

"She's an achiever... She doesn't want me to worry. She's very profound, she's very intelligent, she's a wide reader. And when she [wants to] do something, she puts everything in her heart, mind, everything andoon (everything is there)," she said. —KG, GMA News
