Son of Lucban, Quezon mayor dead in road mishap

The teenage son of Lucban, Quezon mayor Celso Dator died after he and his companion were hit by a delivery van on Monday night.

According to Saleema Refran’s report on “24 Oras,” the victims were identified as 17-year-old Guitahm Oli Dator and Sydney Saliendra.

CCTV footage showed that the victims were crossing an intersection aboard a motorcycle when they were hit by the delivery van at around 10 p.m. Due to the impact, the victims were flung from the vehicle.

They were rushed to the hospital, but Guitahm died.

Meanwhile, Saliendra, who sustained a severe head injury, is currently in critical condition.

According to a separate report by Peewee Bacuño, the driver is now under the custody of the Lucban Police.

He has undergone inquest proceedings and was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries, and damage to properties.

In a Facebook post, Dator mourned the loss of his child, saying they had just started recovering from the death of their mother.

GMA News has reached out to Dator for comment.
