Pastor arrested for alleged repeated rape of own daughter

A leader of a religious group, a pastor, has been arrested by members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for allegedly raping his daughter, GMA News' John Consulta reported Friday on "24 Oras."

The police handcuffed the 47-year-old pastor after his own daughter identified him as her abuser.

A relative noticed unusual behavior, that most of the time the girl seems to just stare into space.

The girl disclosed the physical abuse by her father, adding that he apologizes but would still repeat the offense.

Police Major Von Gualberto, chief of police in Tuy, Batangas, said they learned that the man is a leader of a religious group or a pastor.

According to witnesses, the girl is locked up in her room.

The suspect did not deny the accusation, which started five years ago.

"Siguro po dahil ang asawa ko po ay malayo," the suspect said in an interview.

"Anak patawarin mo ang Papa. Patawarin mo ako. (inaudible) Naabot tayo sa ganung bagay," he added.

Batangas Provincial Police Office Director Col. Glicerio Cansilao said the girl may have to undergo counseling.

Cansilao advised the public to inform authorities if they notice a similar situation in their respective communities. -- BAP, GMA News
