71-yr-old man loses house to Jolina flood, left only with his plates
A construction worker died in a landslide while an elderly man lost his house due to heavy rains and flooding brought by Tropical Storm Jolina in Batangas.
According to a report on 24 Oras on Thursday, the house that 71-year-old Danilo Linas himself built was swept by the raging flood in Barangay San Isidro.
The septuagenarian said all he could save from the debris were several plates.
"Kung may mga taong gustong tumulong, buong puso ko pong tatanggapin... Huwag na lang din kaya, nakakahiya sa mga tao," he said.
(I will wholeheartedly accept any assistance from the public... Never mind, I think I am too embarrassed.)
Meanwhile, a construction worker in Laurel died after he was buried in a landslide.
PAGASA said Jolina is forecast to continue moving generally westward over the West Philippine Sea and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday afternoon or evening. -Ma. Angelica Garcia/MDM, GMA News
