Ipo Dam to release water amid heavy rains from Jolina
Water will be released from Ipo Dam in Bulacan starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, PAGASA said in an advisory.
The weather bureau said the water level at Ipo Dam at 6 a.m. on Wednesday was 101.23 meters and continues to increase due to heavy rains from Severe Tropical Storm Jolina (international name: Conson).
PAGASA said the initial discharge of water will be 55 cms during the spilling operation.
It advised residents in low-lying areas and those near the Angat River bank in the towns of Norzagaray, Angat, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliuag, Pulilan, Plaridel and Hagonoy to be alert for possible flooding.
Tropical Wind Cyclone Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was raised at 5 a.m. over the southern portion of Bulacan (Pandi, Bulacan, Marilao, Calumpit, Norzagaray, Plaridel, Santa Maria, Balagtas, Bocaue, Bustos, City of Malolos, Angat, Obando, City of San Jose del Monte, Pulilan, City of Meycauayan, Hagonoy, Paombong, Guiguinto, San Rafael, Baliuag), among other areas, due to Jolina. —KG, GMA News
