Talisay City, Cebu councilor cheats death in road accident

Former Talisay City, Cebu mayor and incumbent City Councilor Socrates "Brod Soc" Fernandez cheats death as a truck almost ran him over along the Cebu South Coastal Road, GMA News Cebu's Fe Marie Dumaboc reported on Balitang Bisdak on Friday.

The incident was recorded on CCTV at the Command Center in Talisay City.

A green bus can be seen and behind it, a motorcycle beside a white tanker. The motorcycle rider, however, tried to avoid a barrier that was placed on the road. But the motorcycle hit the tanker.

The rider lost his balance, fell to the ground and in a split second avoided being run over by the tanker.

The rider can then be seen kneeling down beside his motorcycle.

The traffic enforcer responded immediately and was able to identify Fernandez as the lucky rider.

Joy Tumulak, head of the City of Talisay Traffic Operation and Development Authority (CT-TODA), said Fernandez was on his way to the church to hear mass.

Tumulak related that Fernandez assured that he only has bruises on his hand and torso, boarded his motorcycle and left to proceed to the church.

"Gi-isip ni Mayor Soc na usa gyud toh kadako na milagro ang nahitabo niya gahapon," said Tumulak.
