COVID-19 Delta variant case in Marinduque dies —governor
One of the six Marinduque residents infected with coronavirus Delta variant has passed away, Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr. said on Friday.
At the Laging Handa briefing, Velasco said that the deceased patient had co-morbidity.
“Sa anim po, ‘yung isa po, ay minalas tayo, pumanaw na po. Pero ang sabi po sa akin ay meron naman pong co-morbidity yun, may ailment.
(Out of the six Delta variant cases, unfortunately, one has died. But, I was told that the fatality had co-morbidity, with ailment.)
On August 16, the province recorded six cases of the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus in two barangays of the municipality of Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz Mayor Antonio Uy said the local government unit was already prepared for a stricter quarantine.
“We made sure that our contingencies were in place and food, medicines, tents, and isolation units are prepared for stricter quarantine protocols that will be imposed,” he said.
As of Friday, Velasco said, Marinduque has recorded around 1,300 COVID-19 cases. He added that the number jumped from only 390 infections in May.
At least 250 of the total infections are still active cases, according to Velesco.
Thus, Velsco is requesting for a stricter quarantine classification for the province, from modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) to GCQ. —LBG, GMA News
