Patients treated outside Mandaue hospital as COVID-19 cases continue to rise
A hospital in Mandaue City, Cebu has been operating at full capacity, with patients being treated outside as facilities can no longer accommodate incoming COVID-19 cases.
According to a Chief Nurse of the hospital, the hospital is already filled and so additional patients are already being treated outside, as reported on GMA’s “24 Oras Weekend” on Sunday.
Medical frontliners are also being overworked with at least one of them reported to have fainted due to fatigue, as COVID-19 cases continue to increase in the area.
Attempts to revive a patient were also conducted outside the hospital, but the patient later died.
Data from the Department of Health (DOH) shows that as of August 7, Central Visayas, where Mandaue is located, was the region with the fourth-highest number of cases across the country.
The Philippines on Sunday reported 9,671 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total caseload to 1,658,916. This includes 77,516 active cases; 1,552,278 recoveries; and 29,122 deaths. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
