8 gates open at Ambuklao Dam; Ipo, Binga dams open gates too
Eight gates were open at Ambuklao Dam in Benguet as of Tuesday morning as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to bring heavy rains over parts of Luzon, PAGASA said.
At 6 a.m., Ambuklao Dam had eight gates open at 4 meters.
The dam’s reservoir water level (RWL) was at 751.08 meters, nearing the 752-meter normal high water level (NHWL).
Binga Dam in Benguet had six gates open at 4 meters at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
Its RWL was at 573.80 meters, more than a meter away from the NHWL of 575 meters.
Ipo Dam meanwhile still had one gate open at 0.15 meters, same as on Monday.
The RWL of Ipo Dam was 100.75 meters at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, nearing the 101-meter NHWL.
The Southwest Monsoon continues to affect the country on Tuesday.
The Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan will have monsoon rains with possible flash floods or landslides during times of scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains.
Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Occidental Mindoro, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley will have occasional rains with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains. —KG, GMA News
