Two alleged communist gunmen were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sagñay, Camarines Sur.
In a statement, the military said the firefight occurred at 10:45 a.m. between elements of the 83rd Infantry Battalion, supported by the Philippine National Police, and at least 20 New People's Army members in Barangay Bongalon.
Seized from the encounter site were 12 high-powered firearms: eight M16s, two M14s, two M653 rifles, ammunition, magazines, and personal belongings.
Lieutenant Colonel Clark Dalumbar, 83IB commander, said they received a report from concerned citizens that alleged New People's Army gunmen were attempting to recruit new members, which prompted them to scour the area. — DVM, GMA News
