Over 1,000 Batangas residents receive aid from Kapuso Foundation amid Taal Volcano unrest
Over 1,000 residents from Batangas received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation amid the unrest of Taal Volcano.
Among the beneficiaries is Merly Miranda, 64, who walked for one hour with her four children and eight grandchildren to evacuate from their home.
In a report on "24 Oras," Monday, Miranda said their old house got submerged under mud and soil when the volcano erupted in January last year.
"We're afraid that what happened before would happen again this time, so we're really praying that [Taal] would quiet down," she said in Filipino.
The family made it to the covered court in Agoncillo, Batangas but the journey had not been easy on them.
"We climbed a mountain. It's so difficult because we were on foot and I was holding a four-year-old going down," Miranda said.
To augment their immediate needs while on evacuation, the Kapuso Foundation distributed grocery packs, N95 masks, face shields, and lugaw kits with egg.
A total of 1,255 individuals from Agoncillo, Laurel, and Balete in Batangas received the aid.
The Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller, and Pay Maya. Vouchers can also be bought from Shopee and Zalora.
