Banga, South Cotabato placed under state of calamity due to flooding

The local government placed the municipality of Banga, South Cotabato under a state of calamity due to widespread flooding.

Eleven barangays were flooded due to Tropical Depression Dante last month and continuous rains in recent days, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Monday.

Cornfields and banana plantations were among the areas affected.

Some houses were damaged by fallen trees.

Meanwhile, some areas in Tulunan, Cotabato were also flooded.

In three wards or purok in Barangay Poblacion, floodwaters reached knee-deep.

PAGASA on Monday said these areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides. —KG, GMA News
