Parts of Mindanao flooded due to monsoon trough


Portions of Mindanao have experienced flooding due to heavy rains brought by the monsoon trough.

According to a report on "24 Oras" on Sunday, floodwaters in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat reached chest level.

Over 250 families were evacuated and several rice fields were also ruined. A man was also injured after the tricycle he was riding hit a fallen tree in Isulan.

A carabao was also washed away and drowned in a raging river in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.

The floodwaters in Tantangan, South Cotabato also reached chest level. Residents were also evacuated.

Several farmers in General Santos City were also devastated as their crops were ruined by the flood.

In a 7 p.m. rainfall advisory, PAGASA said that light to moderate and at times heavy rains with possible lightning and strong winds were being experienced in parts of Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Cotabato, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Agusan del Norte. — Ma.
