PNP validating report on ‘missing’ former Laguna rights group coordinator —Eleazar
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday ordered the validation of a report that claimed a former Laguna Kabataan Partylist coordinator had disappeared.
In a statement, Eleazar said he instructed the Sta Rosa City Police to coordinate with the parents of Kemuel Ian Cometa, who has been allegedly missing for over a week.
Karapatan Timog Katagalugan said that Cometa was being detained by the police after security forces raided a house in Barangay Macabling on May 21.
However, the Sta. Rosa City Police denied the allegation.
Eleazar asked those claiming that Cometa was in police custody to present evidence supporting their accusation.
“We need to talk to the parents of Kemuel and establish if he is really missing and, if verified, find leads to his possible whereabouts,” he said.
“We are ready to help in the search if he really has been missing for more than a week,” he added.
Eleazar also called on Cometa’s friends and acquaintances to cooperate with the authorities to locate the former rights group coordinator.
The PNP chief added that searching for Cometa was a priority of his organization. — DVM, GMA News
