Taytay employee suspended for wrongfully arresting biker
A Taytay, Rizal Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office employee was suspended after wrongfully arresting a biker for being outside his home, claiming he is not an authorized person outside of residence (APOR).
According to Jun Veneracion's report on "24 Oras" on Monday, Sonny Enriquez tried to arrest Cyril Bisa, 21, who was biking within the vicinity of their subdivision on May 25, for allegedly violating quarantine protocols.
Enriquez said Bisa is not allowed to be outside his house because he is not an APOR.
Bisa said he cannot be arrested because he is within their subdivision. Enriquez then challenged Bisa to a fistfight.
Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula II immediately ordered the suspension of Sonny Enriquez for 90 days.
"Kung ano ang pinakamabigat na puwedeng ipataw, 'yon ang ipapataw natin sa kaniya. Kung puwede ngang dismissal, ipapatanggal ko na eh," Gacula said.
Taytay, Rizal is currently under a general community quarantine with heightened restrictions.
Under the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force, individuals aged 18 to 65 years old can leave their housed in GCQ areas with heightened restrictions.
Outdoor sports are also allowed.
GMA News reached out to Enriquez but has yet to respond as of posting time.
Further, Bisa said this is the second time he was accosted by a MDRRMO employee.
"Magpa-file pa kami ng complaint para maaksyunan po talaga 'yong buong grupo kasi po 'yong buong group po 'yong nakita naming maangas," he said.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
