After Typhoon Rolly, Albay man used pieces of wood, coconut leaves to provide roof for his family

A father in Guinobatan, Albay repaired his roof with whatever materials he could get his hands on after Typhoon Rolly damaged his home last year.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Joel Quijada used pieces of wood and coconut leaves, held in place with tires and weights made of soil in plastic.

It's all he could afford as temporary roof for his wife and five children, as he earns just around P300 to P400 doing construction work, farming, and other odd jobs.

"Pinagkakasya ko lang po," he said of his income.

But thanks to the GMA Kapuso Foundation, Joel and his family can now rebuild their home with sturdier materials.

He is one of the beneficiaries of the Silong Kapuso Program, which provides galvanized iron sheets to residents affected by the calamities which hit the country in 2020.

Joel and his wife Jane thanked the Kapuso Foundation for their assistance.
