Spike in Lapu-Lapu City COVID-19 cases not related to UK variant
The spike in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu is not related to the UK variant of the COVID-19, the City Health Office said Saturday.
According to a report on “24 Oras Weekend,” the City Health Office attributed the increase in cases to the intensified contact tracing by city officials.
It said that the increase is not connected to the sample brought to the Philippine Genome Center which was found with the UK variant.
At present, the city has 4,106 COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 cases in Mandaue City also increased after the release of the results of swab tests that were conducted on February 24 and February 25 as well as intensified contact tracing.
As of February 26, Cebu province reported a total of 10,039 COVID-19 cases. — DVM, GMA News
