Flooding in Leyte renders roads unpassable
Several roads in Palo, Leyte have been rendered unpassable due to flooding and heavy rains brought by the tail-end of a frontal system.
According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region VIII, roads in Barangay Arado and Barangay Libertad were not passable to all types of vehicles.
Government work suspended
The local government of Palo has also declared the suspension of work in government offices on Wednesday due to the inclement weather.
“Work is temporarily suspended in all government offices, except those involved in the maintenance of peace and order, disaster risk reduction management, health and sanitation, and traffic management,” Mayor Frances Petilla said.
Under Executive Order No. 8, the suspension of work in private entities was left to the discretion of their respective heads or office.
Concerned authorities were also advised to follow all disaster protocols and execute the necessary course of action.
Passable roads
Meanwhile, the DPWH Region VIII said the flooding along Killing-Tanauan — Taboontabon Road has receded and roads are now passable to all types of vehicles.
According to the agency, the Daang Maharlika Road in Bislig, Tanauan in Leyte is also now passable.
