Binangonan cops under probe for alleged extortion
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas has ordered an investigation into the alleged irregularities at the Binangonan Municipal Police Station after the arrest of two civilian agents due to supposed extortion activities.
Sinas ordered Calabarzon police chief Police Brigadier General Felipe Natividad to investigate Binangonan police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Ferdinand Ancheta for command responsibility over alleged extortion activities of his subordinates.
“I will not let this incident pass without implementing appropriate criminal and administrative action against those involved," Sinas said in a press release.
Operatives from the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group arrested one Albert Domingo and a certain Pablo Dolfo, who are both civilian assets of the Binangonan Police Station.
Police identified the two as the individuals who allegedly extorted money from one Stephen Kellu in exchange for the release of an impounded motorcycle, according to the PNP.
Authorities also discovered that Police Corporal Archieval Perez, who is facing non-bailable charges for Infidelity in the Custody of Prisoners, was outside the detention facility to serve as lookout during the extortion pay-off using two mobile phones for communication.
The complainant also tagged six members of the police station in the alleged extortion. The PNP-IMEG already placed them under monitoring and probe. -NB, GMA News
