More than 200 families evacuate due to flooding in Zamboanga City

At least 200 families evacuated due to flooding from heavy rains in Zamboanga City, according to a report by Jonathan Andal on GMA News' Unang Balita on Tuesday.

The affected families are staying in an evacuation center in Barangay Talisayan.

Heavy rains due to a low pressure area caused flooding that entered homes.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Ayala, floodwaters reached knee-deep.

Thirty families were affected.

Flooding was also reported in Maguindanao, particularly in Barangay Batungkayo in the municipality of Datu Montawal.

Residents living near the river evacuated due to flooding.

Meanwhile, in Jolo, Sulu, power went out as floods affected many areas such as Barangay Bus Bus.

The Philippine Coast Guard helped evacuate residents.

Bandang Bridge in the municipality of Talipao in Sulu collapsed. Part of the Talipao-Maimbung Road was rendered impassable.

In Lake Sebu, South Cotabato on the other hand, rockslides obstructed roads.

Flash floods were also reported in Lake Sebu area, threatening cornfields and peanut plantations.

Luzon

Meanwhile, in Adams, Ilocos Norte, motorists had to deal with slippery roads and almost zero visibility due to heavy rains.

Farmers were concerned that their strawberries and vegetable crops would be damaged.

Visayas

Flooding also affected residents in Visayas, particularly in San Carlos, Negros Occidental.

A bridge in Sitio Cabunao, Barangay Palampas was damaged.

Around 500 residents sought refuge in an evacuation center.

Ten houses along Andoon River were also carried away by strong current.

PAGASA said on Tuesday a Low Pressure Area estimated to be located at 3 a.m. at 65 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar and embedded along the Intertropical Convergenze Zone (ITCZ) will be affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

The Tail-end of Frontal System (Shear line), on the other hand, will be affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon will be affecting the rest of Luzon, PAGASA reported.
