Magnitude 5.1 earthquake hits Ilocos Norte

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit Burgos, Ilocos Norte on Tuesday night, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Data from PHIVOLCS showed that there were no reported intensities.

Though damage is not likely, the agency warned that aftershocks are expected.

PHIVOLCS said the earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 16 kilometers.

The agency earlier reported that a 5.3-magnitude quake hit the area. -- BAP, GMA News
