Death toll from Bicol flooding rises to 5
The death toll from the flooding in Bicol over the weekend caused by the tail-end of a frontal system has climbed to five, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 5 said Monday.
In its latest situationer, the OCD said three of the fatalities were from Camarines Sur while two were from Sorsogon.
The latest deaths were those of a 48-year-old male from Garchitorena and a 28-year-old man from Pilar.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations were ongoing for Eduardo Claro, a 58-year-old from Barangay Baay who went missing amid the floods.
Authorities also said a total of 189 people or 47 families were displaced by the weather disturbance. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
