Distraught after typhoon, man kills wife, hurts two kids

A man killed his wife and injured two of their children after he went amok and hit them with two-by-two piece of wood at their home in Virac, Catanduanes.

According to Ian Cruz's report on Saksi, the suspect was reportedly distraught after Typhoon Rolly hit the province weeks ago.

Investigation showed that the family just had dinner when the father started swinging the wood at his family.

The suspect first hit his wife and then their children, aged 9 and 1.

A third child hid while the father was running amok.

The other children were reportedly outside the house when the incident happened.

A concerned citizen alerted the authorities about the violence and the policemen arrived.

The suspect also tried to hit the officers but was shot in the process. He was brought to the hospital for treatment.

He is facing charges for murder and multiple frustrated parricide. -NB, GMA News
