Burnham Park 'swans' to serve as rescue boats in Cagayan

The popular swan boats at Burnham Park in Baguio City will be used as rescue vessels in Cagayan following the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.

According to a report on Balitanghali on Monday, the Baguio City Police Office included the swan boats as part of its “Oplan Tulong" in the floods that hit the valley region.

Cagayan was placed under a state of calamity on Saturday due to the widespread flooding that occurred in the province after Ulysses passed through Luzon on Thursday.

Nine people have died due to the effects of Ulysses in the province, Governor Manuel Mamba said. He said four died from a landslide, two from drowning, and three from electrocution.

More than 3,700 personnel have already been deployed to rescue those in Cagayan and Isabela, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Saturday. -Ma. Angelica Garcia/NB, GMA News
