The residents appealed for food, water, clothes, and beddings.

San Mateo Acting Mayor Paeng Diaz on Saturday said the municipality may be placed under state of calamity due to the flooding that occurred after Ulysses’ heavy rains.

Diaz said 10 out of 15 barangays in San Mateo got flooded.

Of the 10 flooded barangays, four were 80% submerged and the “rest naglalaro sa 70 to 60 [percent],” he said.

Diaz added that 17 evacuation centers are serving as temporary shelters for 1,633 families or 7,494 individuals.

Some of the families had their houses totally damaged.
