80-year-old survives Bocaue flood, now fixing his gate

Life goes on for an 80-year-old elderly from Bocaue in Bulacan, who, a day after surviving the raging flood caused by Typhoon Ulysses has bucked down to fix his gate.

According to Raffy Tima’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, Avelino Bulaong said he endured the cold as he was trapped in his house due to the flood, which reached the roof.

“Hindi ako makalabas dahil lagpas ulo na ang tubig eh. Hindi na ako nakalabas. Hindi na ako lumusong, giniginaw ako,” Bulaong said.

When the flood started to subside, Bulaong went on to fix his wooden gate, which was destroyed by the typhoon.

Ulysses, the eighth to hit the country in the past two months, struck areas still reeling from Super Typhoon Rolly (international name: Goni), the most powerful typhoon in the world this year, which killed 25 people and destroyed thousands of homes earlier this month.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad earlier said about 401,800 individuals have been evacuated due to Ulysses.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
