Storm surge in Gigmoto, Catanduanes reached 6 meters
Several houses and establishments in Barangay Dororian in Gigmoto, Cagayan were destroyed by a storm surge from Super Typhoon Rolly that reached six meters high.
According to Ian Cruz’s report on “24 Oras Weekend,” the storm surge may have also washed away a road in town.
One of those who lost their homes was Virginia Ocier, who returned to Catanduanes amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Ocier said the only items they saved were the clothes they took when they evacuated.
A barangay official said that the wind and rain had also caused a significant amount of destruction.
Kaya lahat halos ng kabayan dito sa amin, tinangay,” Willie Trapago said. — DVM, GMA News
