11-year-old who survived Rolly remains hopeful over finding family

An 11-year-old who survived the onslaught of Super Typhoon Rolly as well as the lahar flow in Guinobatan, Albay remained hopeful that he would be reunited with his family.

According to Athena Imperial's Saturday report on “24 Oras Weekend,” Emmanuel Manrique kept returning to a river in the area hoping to find his mother and sister.

“Hinahanap ko baka nandito pa si mama. Tinitignan ko kung nandito pa,” Manrique said.

Manrique said he last saw his mother and sister in their kitchen before the lahar flow.

“Ang palagay ko, buhay pa rin tapos lumikas,” he said.

Manrique's injuries showed the hardships he endured during the calamity. He has also lost his home because it was destroyed in the debris flow.

Manrique and his father, who also survived the incident, are asking for aid.

They also expressed hope that their family would be reunited. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM/KG, GMA News
