Aurora province prepared for Typhoon Rolly —governor
The local government of Aurora has already made its preparations in anticipation of the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly.
Interviewed at the Laging Handa public briefing, Aurora Governor Gerardo Noveras said the disaster response council of the province of Aurora held a meeting on Saturday, attended by leading agencies, in preparation for the typhoon's landfall.
The agencies include the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Coast Guard.
"Nabanggit po nila na lahat ng kanilang designated responsibilities ay nakahanda na po," Noveras said.
On the part of the DPWH, it said heavy equipment were already pre-positioned in strategic parts of national roads in case of landslides.
Evacuation centers have also been prepared, as Noveras added that the Department of Education also designated some school buildings that could be used as shelters.
While admitting that observation of physical distancing by evacuees would be a challenge amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Noveras said the local government will assure that people will be wearing their masks. —LBG, GMA News
