7 dead, 31 injured in Bicol Region due to Quinta
The number of deaths related to Typhoon Quinta in the Bicol Region has climbed to seven, according to a report of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region V.
Citing the reports coming from the Department of Health Region 5 and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the OCD said three victims were from Panganiban, three more were from Gigmoto, while one was from Camarines Sur.
The victims were identified as:
- Joel Potenciano Sr., 41
- Dante Potenciano Sr., 43
- Francis Banez, 45
- Romeo Torillos Sr., 44
- Romeo Torillos Jr, 19
- Luisito Tallada, 15
- Abel Cabrera, 17
Meanwhile, two fishermen identified as Roberto dela Conception and Jomar dela Conception were reported as missing in Catanduanes.
A total of 31 individuals were also injured due to the typhoon. Among these, 17 are from Catanduanes, six are from Albay, five from Sorsogon, and three from Camarines Norte.
Damage to agriculture, infrastructure
A total of P822,782,586 worth of damage and loss was also reported by various PDRRMOs, the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 5, the National Irrigation Administration Bicol Region, the DOH Regional Office 5, and the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Meanwhile, the partial damages report showed that 6,537 hectares were affected with reported worth of P237,622,900 due to Quinta.
A total of 27,052 houses in the region were damaged by the typhoon. Of this number, 25,591 were partially damaged while 1,461 are totally damaged.
The Office of Civil Defense said the report is subject to verification of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 5.
According to the report, the total cost of assistance delivered to Bicol has climbed to P292,895.
As of 4 p.m. on Thursday, Quinta was located outside the Philippine Area of responsibility at 310 kilometers north northwest of Kalayaan Islands, Palawan. -- BAP, GMA News
