Datu Montawal in Maguindanao under state of calamity due to flood

The municipality of Datu Montawal in Maguindanao was placed under a state of calamity due to flooding.

Eleven barangays remained flooded on Wednesday after days of heavy rains, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita.

"Stagnant pa rin ang tubig dahil hindi pa rin makalabas dahil puno pa rin ang Liguasan (Marsh)," Datu Montawal Mayor Otho Montawal said.

Crops were damaged and farm animals were affected by the flood.

The local government has already extended assistance to affected residents. —KG, GMA News
