Amadeo, Cavite vice mayor, 8 staff members nabbed for illegal possession of firearms

Amadeo, Cavite Vice Mayor Conrado Viado and eight of his staff have been arrested for illegal possession of firearms.

According to Bam Alegre’s “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, the Cavite Provincial Police Office served 15 search warrants that led to the discovery of a variety of guns, including some high powered armor like sniper rifles.

No firearms were found inside the home of Viado, but he was still nabbed for bringing guns outside without a permit to carry firearms.

Authorities will investigate Viado’s role as the alleged leader of the Asiong group, believed to be a private army and gun-for-hire group in Cavite.

The recovered firearms will undergo a ballistic examination to determine if they had been used before.

Viado coordinated with authorities but refused to comment on his arrest. -Julia Mari Ornedo/MDM, GMA News
