15 search warrants served vs. Amadeo, Cavite vice mayor, others

Armed with 15 search warrants, policemen went to the property of Amadeo, Cavite Vice Mayor Conrado Viado and several of his men in search of illegal firearms, according to Bam Alegre's report on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

Viado is reportedly facing illegal possession of firearms charges and is believed to be a leader of a private armed group.

No loose firearms were found in Viado's property, but he was nevertheless arrested for bringing firearms out of his property. Viado, who doesn't have permit to carry, was arrested in another house.

Meanwhile, not less than 18 firearms, including high-powered ones, were confiscated from persons associated with Viado. Policemen will determine if they have the proper licenses.

The report said police are checking if Viado is the leader of a private armed group or a gun-for-hire group.

The confiscated firearms will be brought to the crime laboratory to check if they were used in crimes being linked to the vice mayor.

Viado was cooperative in the police search in his property but has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. --KBK, GMA News
